The People Behind Your Story

Our guiding belief: The magic of field storytelling happens in the spaces where people feel safe enough to show up as themselves.

Stories connect us

We’re a small, nimble crew which means we blend in, stay out of the way, and don’t turn your fieldwork into a film set. That makes it easier to capture real moments while you focus on what matters.

Gregg McLachlan
Founder, Cinematographer, Post-Production, Writer, Executive Producer

With 20 years of storytelling rooted in a past career as a journalist and having a deep connection to wild places, Gregg swerved his career more than a decade ago to follow his passion for nature to become a full-time conservation filmmaker.

Being hard-wired as a storyteller has sharpened his ability to find the human core of every story and tell it with clarity, depth, and purpose. That foundation gives his conservation films a narrative strength rooted in real voices, emotional truth, and a deep respect for the people and places at the heart of the work.

He films with professional Blackmagic cinema cameras — the same caliber used in feature films and broadcast work — to ensure every frame meets the highest standards of cinematic quality. This gear isn’t just about specs; it’s a tool that supports his commitment to emotional depth, natural realism, and visual storytelling that stands shoulder to shoulder with industry professionals. Whether in remote field conditions or controlled interviews, Gregg brings both the creative and technical expertise that serious conservation filmmaking requires.

Her producer skills, collaborative spirit, and organizational abilities have led to sold-out screenings and meaningful community outreach.

With experience at the Long Point Biosphere Region, Cynthia has spearheaded land-based learning programs, community education, and a research conference that saw a 50% attendance increase. A lifelong nature enthusiast, she believes in “Restore it, and they will return,” driving her passion for conservation storytelling.

Cynthia is also an outreach specialist, always having a vision for the ‘next’ documentary project and navigating the landscape and partners to make it happen.

Dana McLachlan
Business Manager, Accounting, Field Assistant, Voiceover Narration Creator

Dana brings 15 years of full-time experience in conservation, specializing in administration, budgeting, funding applications, and board governance. Her deep knowledge of the Ontario’s Conservation Authorities Act makes her an invaluable asset in navigating the policies and regulations that shape conservation work. Having worked extensively with nonprofits and conservation organizations, she understands the financial and operational challenges they face, and how to keep WorkCabin Films operating as a successful business.

Her expertise aligns perfectly with WorkCabin Films’ conservation-first approach, ensuring our projects are grounded in real-world conservation knowledge. Dana’s ability to blend strategic planning with a passion for the environment makes her a key part of our team, helping bring meaningful conservation stories to life.

She also steps out of the office to be a field assistant when needed on filming days. And she also goes behind the microphone in the studio for voiceover narration work.
