Destiny Wild – The Return: A New Conservation Documentary in Canada

Spring 2026 brings a powerful new chapter in conservation filmmaking: Destiny Wild – The Return, an inspiring documentary that tells the story of species returning and efforts to increase other populations.

A Return to the Wild

Set in the Long Point Biosphere Region of southern Ontario, this film follows the dramatic, and at times fragile, journey of ecosystems and species reclaiming their place in the wild. From forests once degraded to landscapes on the brink, Destiny Wild captures what happens when committed people, including scientists, Indigenous leaders, conservationists, volunteers, work together to restore balance.

This project was undertaken with the financial support of Environmental and Climate Change Canada (federal government).

What You’ll See

Rewilding in Action: Audiences will witness keystone species returning — some reintroduced, some returning on their own — alongside the revival of habitats once thought lost.

Collaborative Stewardship: The film highlights Indigenous knowledge, scientific research, and grassroots efforts combining forces. It’s not just about what nature can do, it’s about what people can do, together.

Beauty & Urgency: Through breathtaking cinematography, Destiny Wild – The Return shows us both the splendor of wild nature and the stakes we face if we let too much slip away.

Why It Matters

In a time of accelerating biodiversity loss and climate pressures, stories of restoration are especially needed. Destiny Wild offers not only witness to what has already been achieved, but also a call to action to hold on to hope, to support what’s working, and to remember that nature’s recovery isn’t just possible, it’s underway.
