Official Trailer for conservation documentary Giigoonh | The Last Quiet Waters
The Official Trailer for our newest conservation documentary Giigoonh | The Last Quiet Waters has been released.
In the shallow waters of Lake Erie, a fish older than most modern species is still quietly holding on. The Spotted Gar has lived in these waters since long before shorelines were altered and wetlands disappeared. Today, only a few populations remain in Ontario, scattered, vulnerable, and easy to overlook.
Giigoonh | The Last Quiet Waters follows a University or Toronto researcher who has spent years returning to the same waters, season after season, studying a species that doesn’t announce itself and rarely draws attention. The work is slow. Sometimes uncertain. And essential. The storytelling focuses on patience, careful science, long mornings on the lake, and the belief that understanding a species is the first step toward protecting it. Giigoonh is a conservation documentary about paying attention before something disappears quietly.
Also featured is the work being done by St. Clair Region Conservation Authority to rehabilitate and restore critical spawning habitat for these unique fish often described as living fossils.
