Your small business has a fun side. Show it!

Whenever I create digital content for small businesses in Ontario, I like to remind small business owners that showing personality on social media is their unique advantage. No two businesses — or even competitors, for that matter — have the same personality. But audiences will not see that uniqueness if you keep it hidden.

Audiences see content on social media and they gravitate to places they love, or they see content on social media and come away with a sense that the experience will be enjoyable. So they physically visit.

The problem is that for many small businesses, their personality is a call-to-action that is often overlooked.

Today it’s easy to get carried away with content that is too corporate, or too over-choreographed, or over-scripted. The problem with any of that is that it usually lacks personality. Never forget that humans interact with humans. Humans don’t interact with logos.

WorkCabin Creative has a great time working with longtime client Andys Drive In, one of Ontario’s oldest diners. Andy’s has been serving great food since the 1940s. It’s a family-owned business that has really built its success on fantastic small-town friendly service. And personality. You can tell that staff love working at Andy’s. It’s definitely a fun crew. When I was there doing some filmmaking work recently I asked the crew if they would participate in a little fun side project. They enthusiastically said yes. So away we went. Ten minutes later, and a bunch of laughs later, I had the content I need to work a little magic back in my studio.

Enjoy!

Pssst! I think it really captures just how fun the fun crew at Andy’s Drive In really is
