CBC Radio Interview About Saving The Night Caller Documentary

During the interview, we talked about the Whip-poor-will’s haunting call — once a familiar sound across southern Canada — and why its quiet disappearance has gone largely unnoticed. We explored the interconnected pressures facing the species, including habitat loss and insect decline.
I also shared what drew me to this story and why I felt it was important to tell it now. Saving The Night Caller is about more than science or statistics; it’s about helping people emotionally reconnect with a species that is slowly fading from our soundscape. Through conservation voices, field research, and cinematic storytelling, the film asks what we lose when the night goes silent — and what we can still protect.
We also touched on what comes next for the film, with Saving The Night Caller set to air on PBS in Spring 2026, bringing the story of the Eastern Whip-poor-will to a wider international audience.
